Hi, I'm Tavish King

Data Analyst

Data made sense to me.

Learn how I'll make sense for you.

For 4+ years I've been analyzing data. I structure my analyses around SQL, R, Excel, and PowerBI. My experience ranges from data cleaning and wrangling to statistical modeling and advanced visualizations. The focus of my career is making business problems easier to act on and decisions easier to trust.

In addition, I've begun making content for student researchers looking to make their impact in the world. This content will include data viz, data cleaning, APA style tables, and statistical tests. Stay Tuned!

This is the work I enjoy. The work I don't get tired of. The more I do it, the more I want to do it better.

PROJECTS

E-Commerce Analysis

Solving real problems. Solving real data.

Full of business insights and informative plots, this project blends data storytelling with solutions that can guide stakeholders forward.

Employee Attrition

Improving employee retention strategies with business analysis

This project analyzes factors driving employee attrition using EDA and a logistic regression model to identify key variables.

Cafe Sales Analysis

Clean data, clear vision

Messy data can be complicated and it is certainly unavoidable. Walkthrough this project with me and learn how to use some basic data cleaning features in R..

Alcohol Use and Delinquency

Think its true? Lets test it.

Final project for a graduate stats course (Fall 2024). I cleaned and explored a dataset, developed hypotheses, and ran analyses using course concepts, with emphasis on data wrangling, hypothesis testing, and EDA.

AREAS OF INTEREST

Cleaning

There is a high level of pride in my work when it comes to preparing data for analysis. Using scripts, optimal queries, and documentation contribute to making my data reproducoble and usable.

Research

With a handful of research experience, I can evaluate your business questions. With the right data I can use advanced modeling and statistical techniques that highlight factors affecting your business.

Storytelling

A love for insights and a love for design. I want to make the data clear to you and the stakeholders. That dashboard shouldn't be cluttered, so expect me to ask the right questions until we find what's right!

AI

Artificial intelligence is a great tool and more businesses are using it in their workflows. Ask me how I safely and wisely use AI to work through projects!

Machine Learning

Building predictive models takes precision. I continue to learn how to handle convergence issues, validate results through cross-validation, and check assumptions to create a strong model.

Behavioral Data

My education is in psychological research. Human behavior is also difficult to analyze. Trust that I can provide thorough trends in the data and a hypothesis to why this trend may be occurring.

ABOUT ME

Topic 1 image

My Journey

Data has taken me all over the country. I've been accepted into research conferences in Seattle, Phoenix, and Long Beach. I've presented work on human behavior, mental health, and chronic diseases with data always guiding my conclusions.

Those early experiences taught me how to ask good questions, clean messy datasets, and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Eventually, that curiosity led me to shift from academic research into applied analytics.

Hobbies & Interests

I love to climb the Utah mountain peaks, spend time with my wife, and read a good book—all of which challenge me to see the world from new perspectives and grow.

  • Favorite book: Golden Son
  • Favorite peak: Mt. Timpanogos
  • Coding Music: Jazz

Quote I Live By:
"Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air, and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you." - David McCullough Jr.

Where I'm Going

I’ve built a strong foundation in tools like SQL, R, Power BI and even DOMO, but the next steps are about context: developing sharper business domain knowledge.

I’m diving deeper into how businesses actually run and how it impacts areas like customer behavior, retail strategy, and supply chain planning—so that I can bring practical insights to my data team.
